About
While struggling through a difficult part of her life, Heather Rangel attended a women’s group to help get back on track. During one session, she was given the name Nailah, an African name that means “to succeed.” That name, and that purpose, became a focus for her life. So when she and her mother, Margaret Heighton, opened Curves of Millcreek, they chose an African-themed décor to represent Heather’s will to succeed and her desire to help other women do the same.

“Our goal for opening Curves, and the reason that Curves is a good fit for us, is that we want women to succeed,” Heather says.
The Curves program is designed to help ensure that for success. With a supportive staff, a strong feeling of community and a personalized work-out schedule, Curves members consistently meet weight goals along with building friendships and self-esteem.
Curves utilizes hydraulic resistance machines to work every large muscle group in the body. The bio-feedback program CurvesSmart automatically adjusts the machines to each person, guaranteeing a challenging, fat-blasting work-out. “CurvesSmart monitors each piece of equipment to show how you’re getting stronger,” Heather says. “It’s very personalized. It’s like having a personal trainer with you all the time.”
One of the best features of the Curves program is that it can be done in less than an hour. “You get a total workout in 30 minutes,” she says. “It’s an incredible way to take care of your body without spending a lot of time at the gym.” Moving from machine to machine, with bursts of cardio in between, members work the muscles efficiently while burning calories, making friends and having a great time.
Free classes are available to the public at Curves of Millcreek including weight management classes. For more information about classes or the Curves program, call 801-463-0331. More information about Curves may also be found at www.curves.com.
“We don’t like to say the word ‘diet’ but diet in Greek means ‘lifestyle change,’” Heather says. “People associate diets with starving but we teach them how to balance carbs, proteins and fats to better fuel the body and increase metabolism.”
